What you're proving

A program administrator can maintain a live course template — update pricing, defaults, or editorial content on the seeded Paralegal course — and optionally duplicate it for a new variant, without breaking existing sections.

Expect seeded data: PLG-LRW-201 — Legal Research & Writing under Paralegal Studies Certificate. If missing, see Developer appendix.

Step 1 — Open PLG-LRW-201 for edit

  1. Open Catalog → Courses tile: https://lsuoce-development.fly.dev/dashboard/catalog/courses/
  2. Find PLG-LRW-201 — Legal Research & Writing
  3. Open ⋯ → Edit course (do not click the course name — that opens sections)
  4. Confirm the edit form loads with Core details, Pricing & fee components, and Section defaults & inheritance
You're done when

Step 2 — Make a meaningful course update

  1. Choose one maintenance change appropriate for your program — e.g. adjust Base price and fee lines, update Section creator notes, or revise Prerequisites / Syllabus text
  2. Click Save as draft
  3. Reload the page and confirm your change persisted
  4. Check Course review summary for any new warnings
You're done when

Step 3 — Verify existing sections are unaffected

  1. Return to the Courses list
  2. On PLG-LRW-201, open ⋯ → View sections
  3. Confirm seeded sections (e.g. Fall 2026 — Cohort Section) still appear with their original dates and status
  4. Open one section via ⋯ → Edit section and spot-check that inherited course defaults still make sense
You're done when

Step 4 — Duplicate for a new course variant (optional path)

  1. Return to Catalog → Courses
  2. On PLG-LRW-201, open ⋯ → Duplicate course
  3. Confirm the form pre-fills from the source but suggests a new Course code (e.g. PLG-LRW-201-COPY)
  4. Change the Title to distinguish the copy (e.g. Legal Research & Writing — Advanced Track)
  5. Click Save as draft
  6. Open View sections on the new course — confirm no sections were copied from the original
You're done when

Optional appendix — Attach an unattached course to a certificate

  1. If you have an Unattached course from WF-05, open Catalog → Certificates → edit Paralegal Studies Certificate
  2. Under Required courses or an Elective group, use Add course to attach it
  3. Confirm the course Certificates count updates on the Courses list
Optional sign-off
